Interview with Meher Kakalia

Hi, I’m Meher Kakalia and I’m very happy to launch Autumn Winter 2022.

I want to tell you a little bit about the inspiration behind the collection – each season we have a new idea that goes into making the collection and this season our inspiration is Mongolian and Tibetan cultures, so I’ve dug deep into old textiles from these two traditions, use floral motifs and snowflakes which have embellished our collection.

Colour has been an important element as well and, as you can see, red is dominant and is a colour of power in Tibetan culture and interestingly black, which you also see in the collection quite a lot, wards of evil. I love these little details and they’re important to me, important to us, and I hope you like them too.

So, this season we’ve used a lot of vegan materials in the collection as uppers. We’ve used faux fur which is vegan, and we’ve tie-dyed velvets in our own workshop to make a further impact towards sustainable manufacturing.

My favourite top style is the Nana Heel in velvet tie-dye in the red colour – I really love this cute shoe with the kitten heels. It’s a little booty and it draws from many different angles, and I think that’s my favourite this season.
