Men's Collection

1. How and when did the idea of creating footwear for men come about?

Meher Kakalia: "I’ve always had a small mens’ line but only for close family and friends. It was always personal – making shoes for special people. When Greg, a member of our team, chose to get married in Meher Kakalia boots, it all started in earnest – this was 2021. We worked on the shapes and colourways and are very excited to present Meher Kakalia Mens 2023."

2. What is the inspiration behind your first men's collection?

Meher Kakalia: "The first collection is quite clean and simple with a touch of signature sparkle. Bauhaus slippers with their sparkling coil work are much more for mixing formal with informal. Tie Dye on the other hand is effortless design which mixes easily with everyday clothes."

3. Is there a particular type of consumer that your men’s collection targets?

Meher Kakalia: "Someone who is independent, an explorer who loves style and fashion."

4. How do you find the perfect name for your creations and what has been your favourite name so far?

Meher Kakalia: "Names mean a lot to me! Do you know that Queen in in the Queen Boot is derived from the Queen Bee who works tirelessly for her brood and skilfully constructs her hive. I was so inspired by the women who embroider these uppers – working away tirelessly to deliver beautiful works of art, that I named this embroidery Queen."
